Google vs Fireplace shop sales in Old Swan, Liverpool UK.

“Enough is enough, say no to Google fireplace sales and secure local Old Swan jobs” from Liverpool Fires and Stoves Ltd.

Are you thinking of buying your fireplace from the internet?  Are you committing all your cash upfront?  Is your money being spent out of town? Are you prepared to wait in the house for up to 8 hours? You will be supplied with vague delivery times. Will you be crossing your fingers that the courier hasn’t man handled your fireplace on-route to your home?

LIVERPOOL FIRES AND STOVES,

http://www.firesandfireplaces.org.uk.
LIVERPOOL FIRES AND STOVES LTD Tel: 0151 345 1128, 86 Liverpool Road,
Huyton, Liverpool L36 3RF.

It’s well known amongst the UK fireplace shop trade that internet fireplace companies operate from small overheads and very small profit margins. With the UK introduction of 2011’s VAT increase and spiralling UK petrol prices, these profits are now eroded. It’s only a matter of time before internet fireplace companies go bust leaving you with no backup and sometimes no products. And with no fixed place of business where do you take your grievance? Will you receive your full money back if no goods arrive?

In these uncertain economic times it’s important for the local economy to flourish and to safe guard local jobs. Online sales pick pocket the hard earned cash off North West people and feather the nests of other UK cities. We say secure local Old Swan jobs – buy local. KEEP IT LOCAL. Only in the confounds of a bricks and mortar fireplace showroom can you touch and feel the fireplace of your dreams. Granted price may win the day with some online shoppers however to physically examine your fireplace and stand in front of the fire that’s going to warm you right through can’t be articulated over the telephone or fully appreciated on Google. It’s likened trying to describe the colour orange to a blind folded person. Only in your local Old Swan-Liverpool fireplace showroom are you able to see it, feel it, and touch the fireplace of your dreams.

All purchases MUST be completed in the Liverpool Fires and Stoves showroom, based in Liverpool by the area of Old Swan. More than 75% of our fires and fireplaces are developed using local tradesmen and manufacturers safeguarding local jobs, supporting local skilled workers and keeping the money in our great city. Liverpool Fires and Stoves is open 5 days supplying gas fires, electric fires, fireplaces and multi fuel stoves to the Old Swan and surrounding Liverpool areas.

Liverpool Eric’s, all the best clubs are downstairs, everybody knows that..

Liverpool Eric’s, all the best clubs are downstairs, everybody knows that..

by Jaki Florek & Paul Whelan,

At last the wait is over. The big fat red book LIVERPOOL ERIC’S is OUT NOW!!

As Bunnyman Will Sergeant says: “all the best clubs are downstairs, everybody knows that…”

It’s a slice of Liverpool’s music and social history. If Liverpool is the centre of the creative universe, maybe Mathew Street was the centre of that centre… Roger Eagle started Eric’s club in Mathew Street with Ken Testi in October 1976, soon joined by Pete Fulwell, but the book goes back in time before Eric’s to include Deaf School, Supercharge, The Liverpool Stadium, and the days of the original Cavern Club. Featuring interviews with Simple Minds, Ultravox, The Stranglers, Pete Wylie, OMD, The Teardrop Explodes, Lotus Eaters, China Crisis, Echo and the Bunnymen, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Simply Red, Dead Or Alive, A Flock of Seagulls and many more bands.

It is BIG: A4, 508 pages crammed with photos and memories from people who worked there, hung out there, formed bands and played there… and much much more. You won’t be disappointed!

Many thanks to all who contributed.

Opti-myst is a revolution in electric fire technology.Using unique state-of-the-art technology, Dimplex have created the most realistic flame and smoke effect ever seen in an electric fire – an illusion so effective that Dimplex believe it is difficult to distinguish it from the real thing. The fully 3-dimensional effect uses established ultrasonic technology adapted from commercial applications to create an ultra fine water mist that is illuminated to create the ‘flames’ and the ‘smoke’. This, combined with the Optiglo® glowing logs and shimmering ashbed, produces an effect that surpasses all expectations for realism in an electric fire.

This amazing effect is currently available in four new Dimplex fires:
• The Chesford inset fire with titanium effect finish
• The Cavendish inset fire with brass effect finish
• The Cadogan traditionally styled stove
• The Cassington contemporary styled stove

USING SOLID FUEL FIREPLACES

Solid Fuel Appliances means any fireplace or wood heater that burns wood, coal, or any other non gaseous or non liquid fuels, or any similar device burning any solid fuel, used for aesthetic or space-heating purposes in a private residence or commercial establishment, which has a heat input less than one million British thermal units per hour. Everyone warms to the cosy glow and flickering flames that only a real fire can offer and, while you’re enjoying the experience, you can consider all the other advantages that solid fuel heating brings.
Solid fuel heating can greatly reduce condensation, eliminating household mould often associated with ‘on/off’ fires. Medical research has also shown that solid fuel heating can reduce the risk of hay fever, asthma and eczema. Homes with solid fuel heating are better ventilated than those with other forms of heating; the very use of a chimney will induce ventilation into a home drawing in fresh air and removing the ‘polluted’ air.  An airvent is recommended with stoves over 5kw. http://www.stovesliverpool.co.uk

TYPES OF SOLID FUEL HEATERS
1 Solid Fuel stoves, often called Wood Burners, Log Burners, Multi Fuel Stoves.
2 Solid Fuel Basket Fires and grates
3 Solid Fuel Cast Insert Fireplaces

1 – Solid Fuel stoves come in many sizes and vary greatly with regards to their output. Stoves can sit inside an inglenook and top flued or be flued from the back using a pipe bend then sitting outside the inglenook chamber. Wood and log burners burn simply wood and have no ashpan. Multi fuel stoves burn coal and wood and come with an ashpan.

2 – Solid Fuel Cast Insert Fireplaces require a cast insert which houses a solid fuel grate and ash pan. A hearth is required and a fireplace usually from solid wood or stone which will keep the cast insert in place. Beware of using veneer or painted surrounds as they may bubble with the heat from the fire. A combination cast is also a fireplace so a mantel is not needed.

3 – Solid Fuel Basket Fires and grates must be supplied with an ash pan to collect the debris once it burns. Ideally choose a black basket as a polished basket will stain from the solid fuel heat. Burn wood or coal. The basket or grate must sit inside the chimney in an inglenook chamber. Sometimes a 3 sided brick or clay back will surfice for a solid fuel grate.

Solid Fuel Hearths
All hearths suitable for burning solid fuel come slabbed and sectioned to help resist high temperatures. They have a solid bed of concrete underneath. They may be made from black granite which is slabbled, solid stone or tiled. Some hearths are flat at the back or sold with a T section. T sectioned solid fuel hearths are more likely to be supplied with solid fuel cast insert fireplaces. Sometime they may be supplied with a metal heat plate on top. HETAS is the organisation recognised by the Department of the Environment as the official testing and approval body for the solid fuel industry.
